Funds are requested to support the continuation of short courses concerning river processes to local members of the conservation/inlan wetland commissions and environmental activists.

Funds are requested to collect water quality data to study the ecology of the Quinnipiac River and the New Haven Harbor and provider public education about the river.

Funds are requested to support the implementation of landowner and youh education about reducing non-point pollution.

Funds are requested to support the implementation of a four-day training program to educate land use leaders.

Funds are requested to support the publishing of six in-depth stories including 240 photographs about the Quinnipiac River and its surrounding environment.

Funds are requested to support the implementation of an intensive workshops to teach 100 Connecticut school groundskeepers how to mamnage fields without the use of harmful pesticides.

Additional funding is requested to cover the cost for aerial shots for the "Consider the Quinnipiac" Campaign. Aerial photographs would provide documentation access to areas not readily seen from land level.  (See grant 20070065)

Additional funding is requested to support addtions and enhancements of the "Consider the Quinipiac" Campaign. Enhancements will include the photo exhibit, grand opening, expansion of photo documentation time, and photo stories.  (see grant 20070065)

To offer a short course in river processes to local members of conservation/inland wetland commissions and environmrntal activists.  The course will cover the basic hydrologic, geomorphic, chemical and biological processes that govern stream exosystems, and how they are perturbed by human activities.  Participants will receive the scientific tools that they need in order to understand and critically evaluate environemntal data on the Q River.

To support the grassroots organization identified in the Quinnipac Watershed Action Plan and continue to organize volunteers toward implementaing the plan's actions.  To harness the combined efforts of a large pool of citizen volunteers, clubs, civic roups, shcools and businesses, which hav eparticipated at least one year in a QRWA river activity.  To use our conservation, recreation and education events and programs to increase our volunteer ranks.  To continue to train and guide these volunteers toward reducing the point source and nonpoint source pollution that enters our waterways.  These volunteers will educate landowners and builders whose activities have a direct impact on water quality and habitat health in tributaries and main rivers.
