Projects

To support the education of fishers on safe consumption of fish from the Quinnipiac River and work with the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to ensure fish signage is posted in the area in appropriate languages as well as support an exchange program where Quinnipiac River fishers can trade their lead weights for non-lead weights.

To support The Cleaning and Canoeing the Quinnipiac Program that will get all Fair Haven students onto the river for education, provide community canoeing programs, and lay the foundation for a canoe ranger station in Fair Haven.

To further acquire land for the trail right of way, construction of bridges, boardwalks, and observation platform, and fund raising in support of those activities.

To continue to work on beautification, river access and promotion of the Quinnipiac Avenue Historic District.

To support Volunteer Monitoring Programs, Stream Walk II, Regulatory Research, Grassroots Advocacy, Education - upper and lower river, and general public education.

To establish and maintain an intranet website for the Quinnipiac River Watershed Partnership.

To support educational activities taking place on-board the schooner Quinnipiac that will connect students and teachers from upper watershed schools with students and teachers in lower watershed schools.

To support Field Research Program to document wetland loss along the Quinnipiac River Estuary and document baseline conditions and historic trends.

To develop GIS data layers of selected brownfield sites in Hamden, CT, and develop and analyze detailed GIS data layers for the marshes in the lower Quinnipiac River.

To develop a plan of action and then begin the process of repairing the bank erosion and tree infall in the Quinnipiac River.
