To measure and assess organic and metal contaminants in the eggs, liver, kidney and flesh of tautog (blackfish) from New Haven Harbor.
Assess levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in various parts of blackfish in New Haven Harbor to determine source of contamination (sewage, industrial, etc) and whether contaminants move up the food chain. Determined levels of pollution were higher in blackfish than in predicted by sediment and that pollutants did move up food chain.
To assess relative abundance, health and body burden of selected contaminants in winter flounder.
Study of fish size, skeleton, pollutant body burden, number of overall fish and species diversity indicated that Hemingway Creek was not an appropriate location for the growth of young winter flounder.
