To measure and assess organic and metal contaminants in the eggs, liver, kidney and flesh of tautog (blackfish) from New Haven Harbor.
Assess levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in various parts of blackfish in New Haven Harbor to determine source of contamination (sewage, industrial, etc) and whether contaminants move up the food chain. Determined levels of pollution were higher in blackfish than in predicted by sediment and that pollutants did move up food chain.

To develop a geographical information system database for the Quinnipiac River Watershed.
Develop and maintain a geographical information system database for the Q river Watershed that monitors the environmental health of the various environments along the river. Computer system was ready for delivery at time of report.
To classify and assess shellfish growing water for the Quinnipiac River and New Haven Harbor.
Shellfish (mostly oysters) collected from Q river and New Haven harbor and level of pollutants found to be high. Also assessment of sewage overflow conducted in area and violations noted.
To assess relative abundance, health and body burden of selected contaminants in winter flounder.
Study of fish size, skeleton, pollutant body burden, number of overall fish and species diversity indicated that Hemingway Creek was not an appropriate location for the growth of young winter flounder.
To collect and examine winter flounder eggs for condition and viability.
Fish were tagged and eggs collected; results unexpected. Winter flounder tend to spawn in light house point-morris cove area instead of in long wharf/Q river area. Fish eggs tended to be healthy.
To continue "Survey of Symbiotic Roots Showing Mycorrhizal Fungi on Tidal Riverine Vegetation in the Lower Quinnipiac River".
Further data was collected from mycorrhizal fungi. Ascertained that diversity could not be accounted for by soil sample alone. Requires further exploration.
